Modern Works
Since 2025, Galerie Stefan Rasche has also been active in the fine art market, with a view to strategically expanding its contemporary programme. This new segment is based on an extensive collection of modern works, built up over many years and constantly evolving through acquisitions and sales. The focus is on figurative tendencies from 1920 to 1970 in painting, drawing and graphic art – ranging from works of Expressionism and New Objectivity to the various forms of realistic positions from the post-war period. Although there are well-known names among them, the emphasis is on the ‘lost generation’, i.e. on those artists whose careers were affected by the political developments of the 20th century. Nevertheless, many of them created high-quality works typical of their time, which are worth rediscovering today.
With the highly acclaimed exhibition “GROßSTADT! MENSCHEN! TECHNIK! GEFAHR!” in 2025/26, parts of the collection were presented for the first time, thematically complemented by contemporary works from the gallery’s programme – a dialogical concept that will continue in the future.
In this section, selected works from the collection of modern art will be presented in regular rotation. For further information, please contact the gallery.
